I personally find blogs and linkedin very useful in connecting with people.

In the current times, when companies are very particular about the profiles they offer and when there is abundance of skilled resources available, it’s becoming more and more important to match yourself suitably. Applying for the rightmost job that suits your experience, qualification and interest is imperative. This will not only improve one’s chance of getting a successful recruitment but will also reduce the company’s effort of skimming through thousands of applications.

One can feel the growing power of social networking, when you see the new age recruiters accessible through variety of communication channels.Ravi Bankahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18359074603889251577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8057729581102343970.post-41757827636589687182009-02-06T21:03:00.000+11:002009-02-06T21:03:00.000+11:00The only advice on interview skills I can tell you...The only advice on interview skills I can tell you is just study what questions will most likely be asked. If the fundamental recruitment process is a good one, then indeed it will enhance it.
I am not sure if we are at the stage yet to be able to use web 2.0 technologies to assess a candidate’s suitability for a role. I think until the general recruitment process evolves and we get it right it right face to face, only then can we look to replicate some of this online.
Regards,
Kelly
Six FiguresAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8057729581102343970.post-52388694190769855382009-01-31T21:26:00.000+11:002009-01-31T21:26:00.000+11:00Hi Alec, Yes I agree, I think one of the benfits o...Hi Alec, Yes I agree, I think one of the benfits of Oracle having an Internal Recruitment Team in Australia is that we are able to be more transparent in the recruitment process than if a 3rd party was involved.

Thanks for the comment...David TalamelliDavid Talamellihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01042387086969266765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8057729581102343970.post-78872679980239098762009-01-31T10:57:00.000+11:002009-01-31T10:57:00.000+11:00Nice suggestions. Here in Australia, if an intervie...Nice suggestions.

Here in Australia, if an interview is arranged via an agency, then subsequent contact without the agency is forbidden. There seemed to be an imbalance here. Now we see more balance coming into play with sites that enable us to access a lot more information about the companies we are looking to join, including their leadership, culture, pay scales and so on which is great. As a hirer we can also find out even more information about potential applicants thanks to the every growing amount of social networking sites. However as you have indicated it is not just about finding out more about the applicants, it is using this information to assist in making the right hiring decision for the company and also for the applicant, that is aligned with their personal needs and career goals.

I personally think that this increased transparency is great for employers and job seekers. The one part of the puzzle however that is still to evolve is providing more information in the job ad! This is the link between the two parties yet frequently there is little information available at this point in the recruitment process, which is a constant frustration for most job seekers in particular high salary bracket for Executives and High Salary Earners. They are unlikely to apply for a job that does not include key information they must know such as salary, the employer, key responsibilities, leadership, and benefits and so on.

Six Figures, the Executive Job Site www.sixfigures.com.au,
blog http://blog.sixfigures.com.au/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8057729581102343970.post-3740316458977695802008-11-22T04:39:00.000+11:002008-11-22T04:39:00.000+11:00Thats very nice to know.Thats very nice to know.Fahd Mirzahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14722451950835849728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8057729581102343970.post-49348452343016931072008-11-20T13:50:00.000+11:002008-11-20T13:50:00.000+11:00Thanks David for your great introduction of our bl...Thanks David for your great introduction of our blog.

I think it is the virtuous culture of "paying it forward." Economic principles are old, and they don't really match with the dynamic and innovative nature of IT. IT professionals should work together to chip away IT from the stereotypical economic ups and downs. The best way to do that for them is to either only get employed into pure -at-heart IT companies like Google, Red Hat or Oracle, or they should go for become Independent Software Developers.Fahd Mirzahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14722451950835849728noreply@blogger.com
